Pie's Happy Tail
I adopted Pie from "Adopt-a-Pet Columbus" over 5 years
ago. (this is the shelter PWP replaced)
I had just graduated from college and was living
alone. I was very lonely and decided a roommate was
just the answer. After work, I drove to the shelter.
I walked into the room where the cats were living and
a small adult black cat began talking to me as if she
already knew me. I have been told that animals often
pick their owners more than we pick them. This was
definitely true in my case. I had never considered
having a black cat but she was beautiful and friendly
so I took Pie home.
The same year I brought her home, she became sick and
I took her to the vet. She was diagnosed with feline
stomatitis, a disease of the immune system that
attacks the gums. The vet said Pie would need to be
put to sleep or have all of her teeth removed. Having
already fallen in love with her, I chose the
operation. Pie is now a healthy 6 year-old cat (who
only eats wet food). She is the joy of my life. She
has not stopped talking since the day I got her.
Besides following me around and describing her day to
me, she enjoys laying by the fireplace, looking out
the window, and watching her cat videos.
I was extremely saddened to learn from your website
that people shy away from black cats. Pie is the most
special animal I have ever been privileged to know
and I hope that others potential owners will recognize
the uniqueness of black cats.
