How to Adopt Your New Best Friend
Pets Without Parents lists all of our adoptable animals on Petfinder.com.
An adoption application must be filled out prior to adoption, and references will be checked. You can either fill out a paper application and drop it off at the shelter, or fill out our online application. The application must be completed in full in order for us to put a pet on hold. Indicating a particular pet of interest on the application places that specific pet on hold for the applicant. Our applications are assessed on a first come, first adopt basis. Incomplete applications will not be considered, and we cannot place more than two pets on hold for an applicant while they decide. Applications will be processed as quickly as possible, but we are dependent on how fast phone calls are returned. Please expect a day or two to hear from us. You will be contacted about your application once review is complete.
Please note that an animal cannot be put on hold until the shelter receives an application.
All of our animals are spayed or neutered before being adopted. They are also vet checked, dewormed (if needed), given flea treatment (if needed), and vaccinated while at the shelter (first rabies vaccine is given at about 4 months of age). Dogs are tested for heartworm if they are over 8 months old, and all cats and kittens are tested for feline leukemia/FIV.
Our adoption fees are much less than what it would cost you to have all of these services done by a veterinarian. For a breakdown of costs, please see our Free to a Good Home is Not Always Free page.
