Pets
Without Parents, founded in June of 2001, is a non-profit, no-kill,
|
all-breed
pet shelter. Our mission is to create a community that nurtures
and respects companion animals, and to someday see that every pet
is loved. In order to
create such a community, Pets Without Parents functions as
a pet adoption shelter,
carefully placing pets into forever homes. Additionally, we do
everything in our power to help reduce the pet overpopulation. Every pet
is spayed or neutered before going to his/her new home. Our mission can
only be accomplished through the education of the community -- sharing our
beliefs helps to ensure that we are creating a better world for deserving
pets.

Wesley is not only handsome, but also very loving and social. He spent many months at Franklin County Animal Shelter before coming to live at PWP. We're hoping our smaller shelter will help Wes receive more attention from visitors. In the meantime, Wesley is enjoying playing outside with his dog buddies, romping in the pool, and receiving large doses of TLC. |
It's not uncommon for people to ask us why they should adopt versus buying from a pet store or breeder. The answer is simple: when you adopt, you save a life. PWP is a no-kill shelter, but we pull pets from kill shelters. According the the Humane Society of the United States, 6-8 million pets enter shelters annually, but only 3-4 million get adopted. We have a crisis on our hands! Too many homeless pets. Additionally, shelter pets come with a veterinary package not offered by most breeders and pet stores (specifically, pets are already altered). Finally, when you buy from a pet store, you are supporting puppy mills, the deplorable, disgusting dog-breeding factories. Be a part of the solution! ADOPT!

featured cat: Kitten Palooza!!
We're overwhelmed with cats and kittens! If you're looking for a feline friend, make PWP your first stop. Don't fall trap to the "free to a good home" ads in papers. While we do have an adoption fee, it's packed with a veterinary package. Our pets are already spayed/neutered, vaxed, dewormed, feline leukemia tested, and if they're 3 months+, they also receive a rabies shot. PLUS, during June and July, adopt one kitty, and the second kitty's adoption fee is half off (for qualified adopters). Adult cat adoption fees are also reduced. ADOPT! ADOPT! ADOPT! |
