Here, you will find our most recent medical cases still in need of financial help.
The pets in our care come to PWP from a variety of locations and situations. They arrive with varying needs. All of our pets receive preventative medical care (spay/neuter, vaccines, deworming, etc) but some require more care before finding their forever home. Sometimes we will plan to accept a pet in need of medical support. Mostly, their need will come as a suprise for which we could not prepare. We provide them treatment and relief as quickly as possible. With adoption fees covering only approximately 33% of our total costs, monetary support from donors like you make it all possible!
The "I" and "O" Litters:
The "I" and "O" litters came to PWP from a home that had some unplanned litters and needed to surrender these pups immediately. The pups were reported to be 8 weeks old and healthy, but upon arrival it was discovered that these little ones are probably only 5 weeks old. The pups were emmaciated, covered in fleas, infested with intestinal parasites, and immediately broke with Parvo. All 9 pups have been sick with the virus. Due to the severe toll of the parasites, their young age, and fragile state one of the puppies needed a blood transfusion and required hospitalization at MedVet. These 2-pound puppies are very small, but brought some BIG BILLS. And the bills may not be done yet!

"Ralphie" (aka Mutt)
Ralphie was found by a rural county shelter. When he arrived he was missing some hair and absolutely matted and covered in burrs. Who knows how long this sweet soul had been wandering. The previous shelter shaved Ralphie to make him more comfortable and when he was not adopted quickly with them, they contacted us to give Ralphie a no-kill place to find his forever-home. Ralphie is approximately 9 years old and endearingly nicknamed "Mutt". Since arriving at PWP Ralphie has continued to regrow, what looks like it will be, a fluffy coat. Ralphie has been neutered, up-dated on his vaccines, and had neccessary dental extractions leaving this guy with few teeth in his smile. Ralphie is also missing a toe from one of his front feet. This poor guy has had it rough and proves to be quite the trooper! Ralphie isn't in the clear yet. He has tested positive for heartworm. Ralphie is going to need expensive and months-long treatment to clear his infestation. He is looking for a foster home, financial support, and good thoughts to get this guy through treatment.
